Innovative Changes in Baby Clothes
Infants are very fragile during the first few days of their exposure to the ‘outside' elements. And so, clothing for infants requires much more care in its selection. The accepted norm in baby's clothing is always in the line of comfort andpracticality.
Innovation in baby clothes, though understood to be unique, should still adhere to the seemingly written rule - the baby's innate simple characteristics might as well speak, although some manufactures do consider styles that express each child's individuality could be that carefree spirit of infancy.
Baby clothes manufacturers, in an effort to innovate have collaborated with different factories around the world. Innovative manufacturers are buying goods from Asian mills, print them in, say, Hong Kong and maybe knit them in Paris. Or the innovation can be as simple as redesigning to launching new products or in the form of innovative retail initiatives and store expansions to as wide as global reach.
For some, innovation has got to do with sustaining and strengthening the bond between the mother and the baby. This is actually the responsible kind of innovation every manufacturer is trying to incorporate in their company values.
Modern baby clothes are designed to be both therapeutic and fashionable. Some Baby clothes designers have collaborated with pediatric chiropractor to come up with design innovations such as a ‘Baby Massage Snuggie-Romper' which is a unique long-sleeved onesie designed for using the natural healing techniques of acupressure massage on babies; especially helpful for fussy, colicky or crying infants.
The innovation is made more creative by making use of colorful icons that appear as print designs, but are indeed mark pressure points making massage simple. Clinical studies show that a daily pressure point massage soothes many common ailments, promotes overall health and well-being.
For fabrics, soft cotton is still the beloved choice, particularly the combed, ring-spun cotton kind. Although there are designs that use different kind of fabrics in a piece of clothing for creativity, it is always preferred, much ideal, that the arms, neck and hem are banded in soft cotton. But it has been observed that preferred fabrics today are the likes of soft cotton-lycra blend which forms to baby's shape especially in bodysuits. And it helps if the fabrics meet the so-called flammability requirements.
The innovation also takes place in packaging. The set packaging is rather common such as Kimono Tee & Legging Set or a Footie & Cap Set. Packaging innovations comes in Easy Mix and Match set which can be a helpful suggestion in combination of designs, colors and functions.
Baby clothes today are also packaged in adorable gift bags. The package may also include trivia, tips and advices on baby care. There are even detailed instruction sheet on how, where and when best to use the particular purchase all in an effort of good recommendation or practical advice. One best example of innovative practical packaging is selling the baby clothes as Unisex Baby Clothing. For some busy mothers, that can spell a lot of difference!
Speaking of bodysuits that classic and traditionally long-sleeved one-piece thermal baby wear - design has come to be very predictable and boring. Modern designers have experimented on modifying some parts. Bodysuits today are varied in wide collars or wide neck opening, and variety of snaps: snap inseam, decorative twill tape bow, colorful buttons or Velcro.
New generation babies are never left-out in latest designs. This is particularly true in the rise of baby-tees, particularly the short-sleeved variety, with designs that are just as chic and comfy as the adults'. All tee-shirts are generally marketed as feels good and always looks just right. The preferred designs are those that are ribbed trim along the classic crew neckline, which are both comfortable and stylish. The innovation actually is just to shrink it to baby's fit and all things hold true as well where it fits great, feel delicious and always looks just right, babies will like that! Interestingly enough, some tee-shirt designs are hand-painted.
There are baby gowns which some manufacturers claim as the easiest piece your baby will ever wear. In fact mothers are buying the idea and paying money for the item too when new generation baby gowns actually come with an open elastic bottom, a stylish snap collar and fold-over cuffs to keep hands warm and protect from sharp fingernails.
Innovation in baby clothes can just take place in actual marketing especially on classic designs. It is rather interesting and practical to say go-anywhere one- piece has snaps from chin to one ankle, stylish ribbed trim and open feet for comfort than saying the typical cozy long sleeves. Or, some marketing ploy can be very direct: Classic One-Piece Roomy and ready for action! That can be as innovative as it gets. And print designs are no longer limited to raindrops and dainties, candies and pastels. Prints in baby clothes today also come in stripes, tie-dyes and monochromes and vintage fabrics. Even a slight sheen does not offend but adds sparkle, rather interest to the conventional piece a take on a more futuristic look, they say.
If choosing for already finished items - between classic and innovative designs - becomes taxing. The innovation further takes the consumers to try handmade baby clothes. These are something custom-made after the mother's or the father's - description. In most cases these are hand sewn and the buyer has the option to choose the color and the design.
